Please download the attached contract from this page, complete the contract and deposit ($100 Members Rate Deposit or $200 Non-Members Rate Deposit), to book the hall for your function. All deposits are refundable up to 30 days prior to functions. The Emerald Society will not refund any deposits or payments made for cancellations less than 30 days before your function date. Deposits and final payments can be made by cash, check or money order to:  “Emerald Society of the B.P.D.”. Deposit can be mailed or left within the mail slot:

Hall Setup

On the day/ night of a booked event, renters will be allowed access to the hall 60 minutes prior to their reserved event start time, during which they can decorate and setup food, etc. The Emerald Society provides and can set up:

  • Round tables: 5 feet in diameter with 8 chairs each, as many as renters request.
  • High-top Pub Table: 5 high-top pub tables with stools by the bar, and stools along the bar itself.
  • Long Tables: 6’ and 8’ long, rectangular tables. These are generally used along the walls for food, catering trays, coffee, gifts, and DJ’s on stage, etc.

Catering

Renters can use whichever catering service they choose, or bring in their own food, and setup up lit sterno canisters under trays to keep food warm. They may also use the oven in our small kitchen to heat food up. The oven is a standard home size baking and burner top electric oven. We do provide an electric 40-cup coffee urn as well. Renters would need to bring ground coffee, cream/ milk, sugar, cups and stirrers, etc.

NO COOKING in Hall kitchen, ONLY WARMING of food

Music: Renters not using a DJ can plug an iPhone/MP3 player into our cable via a headphone jack that connects to our small house speakers. Instructions on how to activate the house system are on the stage, near the amplifier controls.

Liquor Regulations
The Emerald Society holds a liquor license granted by the City of Boston and must follow all “rules and regulations for holders of alcoholic beverage licenses. Management reserves the right to refuse or suspend alcohol service at any time to any Patron(s).  Neither patrons nor patrons’ guests are allowed to bring alcoholic beverages into the facility.  No persons under 21 will be allowed to consume alcoholic beverages.  A positive MASSACHUSETTS driver’s license is required.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

The bartenders have soda guns for alcoholic beverages as well.

Display and Decorations
All Displays and/or decorations shall be subject to the approval of our management. Specifically, NO CONFETTI and NO TAPE on WALLS PLEASE. Some renters bring disposable linens to cover tables or some bring cloth linens. The Emerald Society does not provide a linen service.

Liability and Security
The Emerald Society reserves the right to inspect and control all private functions.  Liability for damages to the premises or equipment will be charged to those responsible for the booking of the function.
