Retired Sgt. Francis Gill

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of "Gill." Sgt. Francis Gill was one of the founders of the Emerald Society and was a very active member since its inception in 1973. Gill was also a past President, serving the Hall in that capacity from 1996 to 1997. Without his many contributions, we would not have a hall, let alone where we are today.

Sgt. Gill was a man of "service to others." He was a Korean War vet, having served in the Army. Thereafter, Sgt. Gill served the City of Boston with distinction for over 40 years. Often seen smoking his pipe, he was truly a presence. His last assignment was in Operations, where he manned the radio making sure Cops on the street remained safe!

Sgt. Gill remained active even in retirement, often participating with the Retired Boston Police Officers Association, the Emerald Society, as well as the Holy Name Church in West Roxbury, to name but a few.

He will be missed by all!

PLEASE NOTE: The services have been changed to Monday, January 11th.
